Fortekor® Palatable Tablets (2.5mg)

are a prescription medication used for pets weighing between 2.5kg and 10kg. They are primarily prescribed

  • Dogs: Treating congestive heart failure by reducing blood pressure and easing the workload on the heart.

  • Cats: Managing chronic kidney disease by improving kidney blood flow and reducing protein loss in urine.

These tablets are flavored to make administration easier and are typically given once daily, with or without food. Always follow your veterinarian's guidance for dosage and duration.

Active Ingredient

  • The tablets contain benazepril hydrochloride, which is converted in the body to benazeprilat. This substance helps relax blood vessels, improving blood flow and reducing strain on the heart and kidneys.

Dosage and Administration

  • Typically given once daily, with or without food. The tablets are flavored to make them more palatable for pets.

  • Always follow your veterinarian's prescribed dosage and instructions.

Precautions

  • Not suitable for pets with certain conditions, such as hypotension, hypovolemia, or acute renal failure.

  • Should not be used during pregnancy or lactation.

  • Regular monitoring of kidney function and blood pressure is recommended during treatment.

Side Effects

  • Rare side effects in dogs: diarrhea, vomiting, fatigue.

  • Rare side effects in cats: dehydration, lethargy, or changes in appetite.
