Loxicom Injection for Dogs and Cats (5 mg/ml Meloxicam)

Loxicom Injection is a veterinary anti‑inflammatory medication containing meloxicam 5 mg/ml, used to reduce pain and inflammation in dogs and cats. It is indicated for musculo‑skeletal disorders and post‑operative pain management.

Composition

• Active substance: Meloxicam 5 mg/ml

• Excipient: Ethanol (anhydrous) 150 mg/ml

• Appearance: Pale yellow solution for injection

Indications

Dogs

• Musculo‑skeletal disorders:

  • Alleviation of inflammation and pain in acute and chronic conditions.

• Post‑operative use:

  • Reduction of pain and inflammation following orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery.

Cats

• Post‑operative use:

  • Reduction of pain after ovariohysterectomy and minor soft tissue surgery.

Dosage & Administration

Dogs

Musculo‑skeletal disorders

• Single subcutaneous injection

• Dose: 0.2 mg meloxicam/kg bodyweight (equivalent to 0.4 ml per 10 kg)

Continuation therapy (if required)

• Start 24 hours after injection

• Use Loxicom 1.5 mg/ml or 0.5 mg/ml oral suspension

• Dose: 0.1 mg meloxicam/kg bodyweight

Post‑operative pain (24‑hour duration)

• Single IV or SC injection

• Dose: 0.2 mg meloxicam/kg bodyweight (0.4 ml per 10 kg)

• Administer before surgery, e.g., at induction of anaesthesia

Cats

Post‑operative pain – no oral follow‑up possible (e.g., feral cats)

• Single subcutaneous injection

• Dose: 0.3 mg meloxicam/kg bodyweight (0.06 ml/kg)

• Do not use oral follow‑up treatment

Post‑operative pain – with oral follow‑up

• Single subcutaneous injection

• Dose: 0.2 mg meloxicam/kg bodyweight (0.04 ml/kg)

• Oral continuation (if needed):

  • Start 24 hours later

  • Loxicom 0.5 mg/ml oral suspension

  • Dose: 0.05 mg meloxicam/kg bodyweight

  • May continue for up to 4 additional doses at 24‑hour intervals

Important administration notes

• Use a suitably graduated 1 ml syringe for accurate dosing in cats

• Avoid contamination during use
