Loxicom 1.5 mg/ml Oral Suspension for Dogs

Loxicom Oral Suspension contains 1.5 mg/ml meloxicam and is used for the alleviation of inflammation and pain associated with acute and chronic musculo‑skeletal disorders in dogs.

Composition

• Active substance: Meloxicam 1.5 mg/ml

• Excipient: Sodium benzoate 1.5 mg/ml

• Appearance: Pale yellow oral suspension

Indication

• Alleviation of inflammation and pain in acute and chronic musculo‑skeletal disorders in dogs.

Administration & Dosage

General Use

• Oral administration

• Give with food or directly into the mouth

• Shake well before use

Dosage Schedule

Day 1 – Initial Dose

• 0.2 mg meloxicam/kg bodyweight

• Equivalent to 1.33 ml per 10 kg bodyweight

Day 2 Onwards – Maintenance Dose

• 0.1 mg meloxicam/kg bodyweight

• Equivalent to 0.667 ml per 10 kg bodyweight

• Administer once daily, at 24‑hour intervals

Long‑Term Treatment

• After 4 days, once a clinical response is seen, the dose may be adjusted to the lowest effective individual dose.

• Pain and inflammation in chronic conditions may vary, so dose adjustments may be required.

Measuring & Accuracy

• Use one of the two measuring syringes provided (selected based on dog’s weight).

• Syringes have a kg‑bodyweight scale corresponding to the maintenance dose (0.1 mg/kg).

• On the first day, administer twice the maintenance volume.

• Take particular care to ensure accurate dosing.

Alternative Initiation

• Treatment may be started with Loxicom 5 mg/ml Injection, followed by oral suspension 24 hours later.

Expected Response

• Clinical improvement is usually seen within 3–4 days.

• If no improvement is observed, stop treatment after 10 days.
